Mahogany Bay Cruise Center Earns Top Honors in Porthole's Magazine 2010 Editor-in-Chief Awards
The new $62 million Mahogany Bay Cruise Center continues to receive accolades, earning the Best New Cruise Destination Port in Porthole Magazine’s 2010 Editor-in-Chief Awards.Located on the island of Roatan, Mahogany Bay welcomed its first cruise ship last month and this year expects to host some 200 cruise ship calls and more than 500,000 passengers.
A joint project of Carnival Corporation & plc and Roatan businessman Jerry Hynds, Mahogany Bay encompasses 20 acres of waterfront property and includes a two-berth cruise pier, a spacious and modern welcome center, and a host of shopping and dining opportunities.
Unique to Mahogany Bay is a new chair lift system that takes cruise ship guests from the welcome center to Mahogany Beach, a 10-acre private island featuring a white-sand beach with a volleyball court and myriad watersports opportunities. Cabanas are also available for rent.
