Carnival’s Newest and Largest Ship, 130,000-ton Carnival Dream, to Include Roatan on Seven-Day Western Caribbean Cruises from Port Canaveral
Carnival Cruise Lines’ newest and largest ship, the 130,000-ton Carnival Dream, will call at the new Mahogany Bay Cruise Center in Roatan as part of its year-round seven-day Caribbean schedule from Port Canaveral, Fla. that begins December 12, 2009. The ship entered service Sept. 21 and will operate a series of voyages from Europe and New York before repositioning to Port Canaveral.
Carnival Dream will call at the island’s new $62 million Mahogany Bay Cruise Center, which is set to open in November and will feature such amenities as a welcome center, myriad shopping and dining opportunities, a private beach, a transportation hub and nature trail.
Carnival Dream will be one of four Carnival Cruise Lines’ ships to visit the spectacular new facility, joining the Carnival Valor, Carnival Legend, and Carnival Glory. Together, these ships are scheduled to make approximately 100 calls at the new Mahogany Bay Cruise Center in the facility’s first full year of operation, accounting for more than 350,000 visitors a year.
On its new Port Canaveral-based program, Carnival Dream will depart Port Canaveral every Saturday, alternating weekly to the eastern and western Caribbean. The island of Roatan is featured on the western Caribbean route and the Carnival Dream will call at the new Mahogany Bay facility every other Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Other ports on the western Caribbean itinerary include Cozumel, Belize City and Costa Maya.
The 3,646-passenger Carnival Dream ushers in an exciting new era in “Fun Ship” cruising. Representing a new class of vessel for the line, Carnival Dream encompasses 130,000 tons, is 306 meters long and 37 meters wide.

Carnival Dream boasts a wide variety of new family friendly amenities, including the expansive Carnival WaterWorks aqua park with the longest water slide at sea and the DrainPipe with an exhilarating funnel-style design.
Passengers can also enjoy a stunning café and live entertainment venue called Ocean Plaza, , the largest spa in the Carnival fleet, an 18-hole miniature golf course, a Seaside Theatre LED screen displaying movies, concerts and other programming, and acres of open deck space for relaxing in the sun or partaking in a wide range of activities.
Innovation continues in the Carnival Dream’s staterooms which include two-bath, five-berth cabins designed with families in mind and cove balconies accommodations that are closer to the water line. Also new is The Lanai featuring a wraparound outdoor promenade encircling the ship and cantilevered whirlpools that extend out over the ship’s sides. Even the dance club is dramatically different with outdoor access and a South Beach vibe.
